Verso: "Scene on the levee at Baton Rouge, La. Contrabands discharge the ammunition from the U.S. Transport North Star [?], Capt. S____ over the Mississippi steamer "Iberville." The Iberville has quite a history in connection with the military operations on the Mississippi. She was taken possession of by the U.S. Authorities on the taking of New Orleans, and has been engaged as a transport every since. She has several times run the gauntlet of rebel batteries and of guerillas frequently. She sustained a fire from a battery of 6 guns upward of 20 minutes while passing Donaldsonville having 4 men killed and 4 wounded, one of her engines disabled and her upper works riddled [like?] an eel trap. She affords a picturesque [?] the trim and clean naval architecture of the North Star alongside." "[signed] F.H.S."
